For over 29 years, each pupil at the Foyle School of Speech and Drama has graduated with the belief that they are brilliant and they can achieve everything they set out to accomplish in life.

The founder, director and teacher at the school is local lady Sandra Biddle. Sandra graduated in 1985 with a BSC Hons in Human Communication and a P.G.C.E in Primary Teaching. She initially taught at the North West College of Further and Higher Education; then for three years at the University of Ulster Magee College followed by a short period as a Primary one teacher before starting up the Foyle School in 1990.

The ethos of the school is to promote self confidence in each pupil through the medium of Speech and Drama. Effective communication is essential in today’s world. If you wish to pursue a career for example in the theatre or film/television industry; medicine; law; teaching; hotel or leisure industry to name but a few, then it is essential that each individual has the social and communication skills to be heard ,understood and convince their audience that they are sincere in what they are saying.

Pupils at the school in the past have represented the city locally and internationally at; Musical Theatre Productions & Summer Schools; Drama Workshops and Productions; Television and Film Productions; Creative Writing Master classes with various pieces published; Dance performance; Movement to music recitals; Public speaking Competitions; Storytelling; Poetry and Musical Recital and Concerts.

The Foyle Hospice and Smile Foundation are the two main charities which benefit from our Annual Class Feis and Christmas Show.
